Under Idaho's five-star school rating system, the online charter schools in the state have collectively scored a paltry 2.5 stars average rating. That rating is well below the average rating even of Idaho's brick-and-mortar public schools. So, don't be misled by the pretty pictures and the confident assurances of these struggling virtual public school programs. Instead, please do your homework before enrolling your children in a program that simply doesn't make the grade.
Since our current law was passed in 2009, parents in Idaho have enjoyed unparalleled freedom to home educate without governmental interference. As a result of those tremendous liberties, home schooling in Idaho has thrived and home schooled students have excelled. We know that a child's parents are naturally his first and best teacher.
