Candidate: Rep - Todd Lakey STATE SENATOR, District 12
1. Do you support or oppose requiring families who home educate to register their children with either the state or their local public school district?
Undecided. Need more information & would need to see the specific legislation.
2. Do you support or oppose requiring all children taught at home to take standardized achievement tests each year?
Oppose. Individual competency is the goal.
3. What other requirements, if any, would you favor as a condition of a parent's right to teach his or her children at home?
4. Other comments that you wish to make on the subject of home education:
I support a parent's right to educate their children at home. I do feel that students need to meet acceptable criteria and/or demonstrate sufficient knowledge/learning to be deemed to have completed high school or equivalency requirements. I am committed to listening to and giving meaningful consideration to both sides before voting my conscience on proposed legislation.
