Candidate: Rep - Toby Schindelbeck STATE REPRESENTATIVE, POSITION A, District 4
1. Do you support or oppose requiring families who home educate to register their children with either the state or their local public school district?
2. Do you support or oppose requiring all children taught at home to take standardized achievement tests each year?
3. What other requirements, if any, would you favor as a condition of a parent's right to teach his or her children at home?
None; the parents should know best how to educate their children. I believe that education begins at home and parents have their children's best interest in mind.
4. Other comments that you wish to make on the subject of home education:
Home education has consistently been proven to be the most successful educational system, and I support it 100%. Home education is a right that all parents should have, and they should exercise it even if their kids attend public school. I believe that education begins in the home. People that home school should be able to get tax breaks to offset the taxes they are paying through property taxes, for the public schools they are not using.
